Hathras Investigation: Body Found at Railway Station.webp

Hathras (UP), March 12 The partially burnt body of a man was recovered from the premises of Hathras Road railway halt here on the Mathura-Kasganj section on Thursday morning, police said.

Locals spotted the body at the halt complex and alerted the authorities, following which teams from the Government Railway Police and the Railway Protection Force reached the spot.

A forensic team also visited the site to collect evidence.

RPF Hathras city station in-charge Ranjit Yadav said, although the body was severely burnt, the belongings of the deceased – a bag containing saffron robes, a kamandal (water pot), and a wooden staff – were found intact nearby.

"The exact circumstances behind the incident will only become clear after the forensic and post-mortem reports are available. The body was found in a static position, which initially led to the suspicion that the deceased may have been intoxicated and unable to save himself when the fire broke out," Yadav said.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been established, and further investigations are underway, he added.
