The clash took place in Tuyo village in the Barkatha police station area on Tuesday when the police officers tried to prevent the group from holding a 'Mangla Julus', which precedes Ram Navami, as they did not have permission to use that route, a police officer said.

Inspector Indad Ansari and Barkatha police station officer-in-charge Pankaj Sriduar were injured and had to be hospitalised," Barhi Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ajit Kumar Bimal said.

Police have arrested two individuals, identified as Uttim Mahto and Rajiv Mahto, who were leading the procession, and have registered an FIR at the Barkatha police station, he added.
