
A dedicated outreach camp at the Trauma Hospital in Lawaypora facilitates the registration of senior citizens for Vay Vandana Cards, with extended health insurance coverage.
February 17, Srinagar: Continuing the series of special outreach camps initiated under the direction of the Srinagar District Administration, the Zonal Medical Office in Batamaloo organized a dedicated camp at the Trauma Hospital in Lawaypora to facilitate the issuance of Vay Vandana Cards for senior citizens aged 70 years and above.
Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive an additional health insurance top-up of ₹5 lakh, increasing the total health coverage to ₹10 lakh. To ensure maximum participation and ease of access, multiple vehicles were arranged to transport senior citizens from different localities to the camp venue.
The camp saw a positive response, with over 70 senior citizens participating and successfully registering for their Vay Vandana Cards. This initiative highlights the commitment of the Health Department and the District Administration towards ensuring inclusive healthcare access and strengthening social security measures for the elderly population.
Officials present at the camp praised the coordinated efforts of healthcare workers, field staff, and local volunteers in making the outreach program a success. It was informed that similar camps will continue to be organized across different zones to ensure complete coverage of all eligible beneficiaries under the scheme.
