Ranchi, April 8 Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar inaugurated a health and wellness centre at Ranchi University on Wednesday, highlighting the importance of physical fitness and mental well-being in a competitive world.
The facility has been set up on the campus of the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre.
Describing the centre as a significant step towards holistic development, the governor said it would strengthen the physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being of students, teachers, and staff.
"In today's competitive era, academic excellence alone is not enough. A healthy body and a balanced mind are equally essential," he said.
Gangwar urged the youth to adopt a positive outlook and incorporate yoga and meditation into their daily routine.
He said concentration, discipline, and self-confidence form the foundation of success, and a positive attitude helps convert challenges into opportunities.
Emphasizing mental health awareness, the governor noted that timely counselling is crucial in dealing with stress and anxiety.
Collaboration with reputed institutions such as the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and the Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP) would ensure the effective functioning of the centre and provide expert services to the university community, he said.
Expressing confidence in the initiative, Gangwar said the centre could serve as a model for other educational institutions and contribute to building a healthier and more empowered society.
