Heavy Rainfall Causes Landslides and Road Closures in Sikkim.webp

April 06, Sikkim: Heavy rainfall in India's northeastern state of Sikkim has caused major travel disruptions, including road closures, landslides, and widespread safety advisories.

A massive landslide in North Sikkim on Sunday left the town of Lachen completely isolated. The ongoing adverse weather conditions have affected thousands of tourists and residents attempting to navigate the region's mountain passes and scenic routes.

Authorities have issued strict advisories, urging all travelers and tourists in the affected areas to remain in place and avoid unnecessary movement until the weather improves and roads are cleared for safe passage.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued critical bulletins forecasting continued rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds through Monday, warning residents and visitors to exercise caution.
