High Court Questions Uneven Grant Distribution to Suspended Educational Institutions

High Court Questions Uneven Grant Distribution to Suspended Educational Institutions.webp

Lucknow, February 16 The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Wednesday sought the reply of the Uttar Pradesh government regarding the lack of a uniform policy in the state for providing grants to institutions whose recognition has been suspended.

A bench comprising Chief Justice Arun Bhansali and Justice Jaspreet Singh passed the order on a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Azaj Ahmad, who claimed that grants were being provided to certain institutions with suspended recognition, but not to others.

The petitioner's counsel, Ashok Pande, said that the registrar of the UP Board of Madarsa Education had recommended that grants to suspended madrassas be stopped, but the state government had not taken any decision on the matter.

Taking note of this, the bench asked the state government to file its response before the next hearing on March 30.
