
Nahan (HP), April 4 Two people were killed, and another sustained serious injuries after their car plunged into a deep gorge near the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday morning, police said.
The victims were traveling from Kupvi in the Shimla district to Baddi in the Solan district when the accident occurred near the Charna village in the Noharadhar area, which falls under the Sangrah sub-division of Sirmaur, about 110 km from here.
According to the Sangrah police, a total of three people were in the vehicle, which lost control and plunged into the gorge around 3 am on Saturday.
Superintendent of Police, Nishchit Singh Negi of the Sirmour district, said that two of the passengers died on the spot, and the driver was seriously injured. Upon receiving information, police reached the scene and retrieved the bodies from the gorge.
The driver, Vipin Kumar, was taken to a hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Gulshan, a resident of Jharkhand, and Naresh Kumar, a resident of Shimla.
The bodies have been taken to the Civil Hospital in Rajgarh for a post-mortem examination, the officer said.
He added that the Sangrah police have registered a case, and an investigation is underway.
