Shimla, March 21 Himachal Pradesh is facing a challenging economic period as the Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG) has been discontinued, but there is no financial emergency, Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania said here on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters after the budget was passed in the Assembly, Pathania said that Himachal Pradesh is facing a difficult economic situation after the discontinuation of the RDG, which has had a major impact on the state's economy, and it is the collective responsibility of the MLAs to work in the interest of the people.
"I don't think the state is in an emergency situation. It is a difficult time, and we will face it together," the speaker said.
Welcoming the move to defer salaries of politicians and bureaucrats, he said that the interests of lower-level workers have been protected.
