
Shimla, April 2 The Himachal Pradesh government raised loans amounting to ₹35,555 crore over the past three years, and the state's debt liability stood at ₹1,01,863 crore as of January 31, 2026.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh informed the state assembly during question hour on Thursday that loans amounting to ₹12,177 crore were raised in 2023-24, ₹12,276 crore in 2024-25, and ₹11,102 crore in 2025-26.
Besides market borrowings, loans were also availed from NABARD, the National Housing Bank, and interest-free long-term loans from the Centre, he stated in a written reply to a question from Sudhir Sharma (BJP).
The state received ₹44,519 crore over the past three years from the central government in the form of grants, centrally sponsored schemes, and other heads, including ₹16,592 crore in 2023-24, ₹16,192 crore in 2024-25, and ₹11,735 crore in 2025-26.
An amount of ₹9,375 crore, ₹10,681 crore, and ₹9,460 crore was received as contributions to central taxes during the same period.
