
Nahan (HP), April 7 Four workers sustained serious injuries in an explosion at a furnace in an iron factory located in an industrial area in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh, police said on Tuesday.
Superintendent of Police Sirmaur N S Negi said that a case has been registered and further investigations are underway.
The workers suffered severe burns on their bodies due to molten iron and have been admitted to a hospital.
In his statement to the police, one of the injured, Amarjit, claimed that the explosion at the Jai Alloys Company, located in the Kala Amb industrial area, occurred due to a malfunction in the furnace and a lack of adequate safety measures.
In his complaint to the police, he said that an explosion within the furnace caused molten iron to surge out and fall on the workers.
The injured were identified as Amarjit (42), a resident of Haryana, Omkar (32), a resident of Jharkhand, Usman (19) from Uttar Pradesh, and Kashidas (35) from Bihar.
All of them have sustained severe burns on their bodies due to the molten iron. In the ensuing panic, Kashidas fell onto an iron slab lying on the ground and also suffered a leg injury.
