
Shimla, March 30 The debt liability of the Himachal Pradesh government increased by ₹10,966 crore in 2024-25, reaching ₹1,03,331.91 crore, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) revealed in its latest Financial Report.
This figure is up from the ₹92,365 crore that the state owed as of April 1, 2024.
The report, presented in the state assembly on Monday by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, revealed that the government raised ₹26,622 crore and repaid ₹18,168 crore in the year.
The report also stated that public debt liabilities increased from ₹8,328.94 crore to ₹10,842 crore, representing an increase of ₹2,513.53 crore.
The net public debt liability went up from ₹25,363 crore in April 2024 to ₹27,777 crore in March 2025.
The report also highlighted that ten long-term loans, amounting to ₹550 crore, ₹200 crore, ₹200 crore, ₹150 crore, ₹150 crore, ₹400 crore, ₹200 crore, ₹100 crore, ₹300 crore, and ₹95 crore, were raised from the market at interest rates of 9.63%, 9.23%, 8.98%, 8.96%, 9.00%, 8.87%, 8.45%, 8.26%, 8.13%, and 8.08% respectively, for repayment.
