Himachal Protest: Locals Cite Respiratory Issues.webp

Shimla, March 23 Hundreds joined a protest in Nalagarh in the Solan district of Himachal Pradesh on Monday to demand the immediate closure of a pharmaceutical plant in the area, alleging that many residents were experiencing breathing difficulties due to toxic gases released from it.

Prior to the protest, the locals organized a rally from the Sauri gram panchayat to the office of the Nalagarh sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), raising slogans against the company, Kinvan Pharmaceuticals.

The locals claimed that the toxic gases released from the plant cause a foul smell in the area and breathing difficulties for many.

Due to these gases, many people have fallen ill, and dozens of village councils have been affected by pollution. Despite repeated complaints being made to the administration, no action has been taken, they alleged.

The protesters threatened to intensify the protest and to prevent the pharmaceutical company from functioning if their demands are not met.
