Hoax Bomb Threat Triggers Security Response at Punjab Secretariat

Hoax Bomb Threat Triggers Security Response at Punjab Secretariat.webp

Chandigarh, February 19 The Punjab Secretariat received a bomb threat email on Thursday, prompting authorities to conduct a counter-sabotage check, officials said.

Police, fire brigade officials, bomb squads, dog squads, and an ambulance were rushed to the Secretariat building, but even after an extensive search operation, no suspicious materials or explosives were found, they said.

Police have nevertheless increased security around the Secretariat.

Last month, the Punjab Secretariat also received a similar threat email, which turned out to be a hoax.

The Punjab and Haryana Secretariat is located in Sector-1 in Chandigarh, which is a high-security zone.

Notably, this latest incident comes shortly after similar threats were reported in schools in Chandigarh, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, and Haryana. All these threats turned out to be hoaxes.
