Home Ministry Aims for Quick Fix on Police Station CCTV Issues.webp

New Delhi, April 7 The Centre told the Supreme Court on Tuesday that all issues concerning the installation of CCTV cameras in police stations across the country would be resolved within two weeks.

Attorney General R Venkataramani told a bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta that he was taking stock of the matter, and a lot of progress was being made.

The Union Home Secretary also appeared in court in compliance with the Supreme Court's order of April 6, which directed him to be present before the court on Tuesday so that appropriate assistance could be drawn from him in implementing the scheme for the installation of CCTV cameras in police stations.

The top law officer told the bench that "within two weeks, he will ensure that all the issues are resolved by holding regular meetings with the amici curiae and other officers."

The bench has scheduled the matter for further hearing on April 28.

The Supreme Court was hearing a suo moto case regarding the lack of functional CCTV cameras in police stations.
