April 10, New Delhi – Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, stated that Iran would move the management of the strategic Strait of Hormuz into a new phase.
In a statement read out on state television, Khamenei said that Iran would seek retribution for attacks against it and would take management of the Strait of Hormuz into a new phase.
He has not been seen in public since he took over from his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed on the first day of the war.
There is no indication that Iran would lift its near-total blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which has caused the worst disruption to global energy supplies in history.
