Ranchi, March 12 The Jharkhand government signed an agreement with the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bengaluru, on Thursday to develop and expand the horticulture sector in the state.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Directorate of Horticulture, Jharkhand, and the IIHR in the presence of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

"Farmers will directly benefit from this, and their income will increase. Productivity, quality, and value addition will be promoted in fruit, vegetable, ornamental, medicinal, and mushroom crops across the state," Soren said.

This initiative will provide a major boost to development, expansion, and research in the horticulture sector of Jharkhand, he said.

At the same time, modern technology will be introduced in the sector, the chief minister added.
