Hyderabad Incident: Accused's Desperate Act Following Rejection.webp

Hyderabad, March 14 A 24-year-old man is alleged to have administered HIV-infected blood to a 22-year-old woman after her parents called off her wedding with him following his positive test for the virus, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place on March 11, when the accused forcibly injected the victim with HIV-infected blood at her house.

According to police, the accused and the victim are relatives, and her parents initially planned her marriage with him.

As the man's parents were already HIV-positive, the woman's parents had the man tested for the virus in September last year.

"When he (the man) was found to be HIV-positive during the check-up, the woman's father cancelled her marriage with him," a police official said, adding that the accused had taken the action, believing that she would marry him and live with him forever.

Based on a complaint from the woman's father, a case was registered at the Pocharam IT Corridor police station against the accused for attempted murder, and he was apprehended, police added.

The woman was admitted to a hospital. Further investigation is ongoing.
