Hyderabad, April 8 – Eight people died in three separate road accidents in Telangana on Wednesday, officials said.
Three people, including two engineering students, were killed in a road accident in Hastinapuram, Hyderabad, in the early hours of Wednesday. The accident occurred on the Nagarjuna Sagar highway when a speeding car lost control and collided with a motorcycle and a pedestrian.
Two B.Tech students who were riding the motorcycle were killed. They have been identified as Shiva and Sandeep, both second-year ECE students of Mahaveer Engineering College. Another young man, a pedestrian, was also killed in the accident. After hitting the motorcycle and the pedestrian, the car overturned.
Other students from the engineering college staged a protest by sitting on the road following the accident. They demanded that the police hand over the car driver to them, alleging that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
The protest led to a traffic jam on the busy road. Police tried to disperse the protestors, leading to a tense situation. The Vanasthalipuram Police Station, under the Rachakonda Commissionerate, registered a case and began investigating.
In another accident, three young men were killed when a motorcycle they were riding collided with a stationary lorry in the Kamareddy district. The accident occurred near Menuru in the Madnoor mandal. The deceased were identified as Sachin, Ashok, and Nagnath.
According to police, Ashok died on the spot, while Nagnath and Sachin succumbed to their injuries while being taken to a hospital in Banswada. Police registered a case and began investigating.
Two people from a family were killed, and 10 others were injured in another road accident that occurred in the Suryapet district. According to police, a DCM vehicle collided with a Bolero from the rear. The accident occurred near Jagannaik Tanda in the Chivvemla mandal.
The deceased were identified as Satish and Narasimha Rao. The injured were admitted to a hospital. The family was on their way to a temple when the accident occurred.
