
Dubai, March 11 The champions, India, received approximately ₹25 crore (USD 2,639,423), the largest share from the prize money pool after winning the men's T20 World Cup at home. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Wednesday the distribution of a record USD 11.25 million in player prize money following the tournament's conclusion.
India defeated New Zealand by a margin of 96 runs to claim their second consecutive trophy.
The total purse reflects the significant increase in ICC tournament prize money introduced in 2024, aimed at boosting financial rewards for players and supporting the global growth of cricket.
The runners-up, New Zealand's national cricket team, earned approximately ₹13 crore (USD 1,422,692), while semi-finalists South Africa and England received approximately ₹9.24 crore (USD 8.96 crore) and ₹8.96 crore (USD 8.96 crore) respectively.
Other top finishers included the West Indies cricket team, which received approximately USD 538,269, and Pakistan, which played all its matches in Sri Lanka, received approximately USD 522,692.
Further down the distribution list, Zimbabwe's national cricket team received approximately USD 491,538, and Sri Lanka received approximately USD 475,962.
The teams that were eliminated at the Super 8 stage – Afghanistan, Australia, and the United States – each earned approximately USD 309,808.
Meanwhile, Scotland received approximately USD 278,654, and Ireland took home approximately USD 271,731.
Four more teams – Italy, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, and Nepal – each received approximately USD 256,154.
Finally, Canada, Namibia, and Oman were each awarded approximately USD 225,000.
The ICC said that the prize money distribution highlights its ongoing effort to increase financial incentives for players and strengthen cricket's development across its member nations participating in global tournaments and supporting the growth of the game across its member nations.
