Dubai, March 3 – Indian batter Smriti Mandhana and Australian spinner have climbed to the top of the Women's ODI bowling and batting rankings, respectively, in the latest update released by the ICC on Tuesday.
The pair achieved this in the three ODIs within the week, with Mandhana scoring notable scores of 58 and 31, which was enough to surpass Laura Wolvaardt (790), who will have the opportunity to reclaim the spot when the Proteas face New Zealand in March and April.
Meanwhile, King (775) ended England's near four-year reign at the top of the bowlers' rankings. Across the week, King took seven wickets with an average of 16.71, including 4-33 in 10 overs in the third ODI, helping the hosts to a 185-run victory. This propelled her to her first No. 1 rating, with her rating of 775 also being a career high.
King is joined by four other Australian bowlers in the top eight – Ash Gardner (third), Annabel Sutherland (fifth), Megan Schutt (seventh) and Kim Garth (eighth).
Several other players from the series also benefited from ranking boosts.
After losing two of the three T20Is at home, Australia bounced back to win the three ODIs as part of the multi-format series, with Beth Mooney, Ash Gardner, and Alyssa Healy playing key roles. Healy, who scored a century in her final match in the format, finished fourth in the rankings (744), sandwiched between Mooney (749) and Gardner (724).
Despite losing all three matches, Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (652) moved four spots back into the top 10 for batters (ninth), thanks to scores of 53, 54, and 25.
Meanwhile, Gardner (516) holds the No. 1 spot in the ODI All-Rounder Rankings, almost 100 rating points ahead of the West Indies' Hayley Matthews (418) in second.
Annabel Sutherland (408) moved up two spots in the All-Rounder Rankings, while young Georgia Voll (534) jumped 23 spots to 34th in the Batting Rankings after averaging 54 in the three ODIs.
