The Institute of Hotel Management, Shillong, today hosted the Prize Distribution Ceremony for the "Dekho Apna Desh" Brochure Contest for the state of Meghalaya, along with the Tourism Education Expo organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The "Dekho Apna Desh" initiative aims to inspire young people to explore and appreciate the beauty, culture, and diversity of our country.
Through this brochure contest, students from Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas have not only showcased their creativity but also deepened their understanding of India's rich tourism potential.
Today's event is not only about the prizes but also about raising awareness about tourism, hospitality, and the various career opportunities available in the growing tourism sector. Tourism and hospitality are among the fastest-growing industries in India, creating employment, promoting cultural exchange, and significantly contributing to the nation's economy.
IHM Shillong also has a mission to prepare young people for successful careers in hospitality and hotel management. The participants today are students from approximately 23 schools in Shillong, with 15 students from each school.
