IIT ISM Dhanbad has achieved outstanding results in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, securing the 21st position globally and maintaining the top position in India for Mineral and Mining Engineering. In Petroleum Engineering, the institute ranked 4th in India and was placed in the 151-175 global rank band, while Mechanical Engineering made its debut in the 501-575 rank band.
Furthermore, the institute secured the 110th position in the QS World University Rankings for Southern Asia 2026. Director Prof. Sukumar Mishra attributed this achievement to the institute's commitment to quality, research, and innovation. Established in 1926, the institute continues to strengthen its global presence in the fields of mining and engineering.
