Inclusive Voting: Volunteers Help Elderly and Disabled Voters

Inclusive Voting: Volunteers Help Elderly and Disabled Voters.webp

Student volunteers will be deployed at all polling stations in Puducherry to assist elderly and disabled voters during the upcoming legislative assembly elections. A total of 1,736 volunteers from various colleges have been appointed by the District Election Officer's office.

Two volunteers will be present at each of the 845 polling stations to provide assistance and to safely hold mobile phones for voters, as these devices are not allowed inside the polling booths. In addition, two volunteers in each assembly constituency will help identified disabled voters reach the polling stations and cast their votes. This initiative aims to ensure inclusive and accessible voting for all sections of society.

District Election Officer A Kulothungan inaugurated the deployment and distributed kits to the volunteers. He advised them to cast their vote first and then report for duty, and encouraged them to use this opportunity to contribute to society.
