
February 18, New Delhi – The India AI Impact Summit 2026 is taking place in New Delhi. The five-day summit is the first-ever global AI summit to be held in the Global South.
Speaking at the India AI Impact Summit, DeepMind Technologies CEO Demis Hassabis highlighted that having a tool like AI will help scientists learn, understand, and process information across multiple fields, potentially transforming the way discoveries are made.
Demis Hassabis also posted on X and wrote, "Thank you for hosting me, IISc Bangalore! I really enjoyed talking with Prof. Rangarajan and Varun Mayya about AI for Science. I was impressed by the energy and enthusiasm for AI in India, especially from the younger generation. It was great to see the statue of Ramanujan, one of my all-time heroes!"
The India AI Impact summit will strengthen India's role as a key platform for shaping the global AI agenda. It also positions India as a convener and partner in global AI cooperation, supporting shared standards, collaborative frameworks, and scalable solutions for the public good. Over a hundred countries have been invited to the summit, and more than two lakh people have registered online.
