Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated today that AI is the fifth industrial revolution. Speaking to the media on the second day of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, the Minister said that the summit is providing a platform to address large-scale problems and to see a new wave of energy among the youth. He added that AI can be used to improve the economy and society as a whole, while also mitigating the potential harms associated with this technology. Mr. Vaishnaw said that following this summit, there is an expectation of over $200 billion in investment over the next two years. The Minister further highlighted the positive framework that has been established with digital public infrastructure in the country, leading to the rapid adoption of AI in India.
