India and Finland signed several agreements today in various areas, including environmental cooperation, migration and mobility partnership, and statistics, in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held discussions with the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, today to strengthen bilateral cooperation across a wide range of areas. They also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, including cooperation in multilateral forums.

In his joint statement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the world is currently experiencing a period of instability and uncertainty. He stated that conflicts are ongoing in various regions around the world, including Ukraine and West Asia. Mr. Modi added that in this global environment, India and Europe, two major diplomatic powers, are entering a golden era in their relations. Prime Minister Modi said that the growing cooperation between India and Europe is strengthening global stability, development, and shared prosperity.

Prime Minister Modi stated that India and Finland are of the opinion that military conflict alone cannot resolve any issue. He said that whether in Ukraine or West Asia, both countries will continue to support efforts for an early end to the conflict. Mr. Modi noted that in the beginning of 2026, a historic India-European Union Free Trade Agreement was signed. He said that this agreement will further strengthen trade, investment, and technological cooperation between India and Finland.

The President of Finland arrived in New Delhi yesterday on a four-day state visit to India. He was received by Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh. This is the first visit of President Stubb to India in his current capacity. He is scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan will also meet the visiting dignitary. President Stubb will be the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker at the 11th Raisina Dialogue 2026 in the national capital this evening.
