India and Iceland Strengthen Cooperation Through Consultations.webp

The 4th Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between India and Iceland took place yesterday in Reykjavik. During the consultation, both sides reviewed the status of cooperation in all fields, including political, trade, and investment; the implementation of the India-EFTA-TEPA agreement; geothermal energy; fisheries; capacity building; culture; and people-to-people ties. They also acknowledged the increase in bilateral trade in 2025 and the investment by Icelandic companies in India. Detailed discussions were held on the future direction of cooperation, including in multilateral forums, particularly the UN. The FOC also provided an opportunity to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, including developments in the neighborhoods of India and Iceland. Both sides emphasized the importance of multilateral engagement and continued dialogue on global challenges. Both sides agreed to hold the next round of Foreign Office Consultations at a mutually convenient date in New Delhi.
