India at UNHRC: Terrorism as a Grave Human Rights Threat.webp

March 12, New Delhi – Secretary Sibi George of India's Ministry of External Affairs delivered a statement at the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC) in Geneva.

In his address, the Secretary stated that terrorism is one of the gravest threats to human rights, and the world must remain steadfast in its resolve to counter terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, and must speak with one voice on this issue.

The Human Rights Council is an intergovernmental body within the United Nations system responsible for strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights around the globe and for addressing situations of human rights violations and making recommendations on them.

It has the ability to discuss all thematic human rights issues and situations that require its attention throughout the year. It meets at the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG).
