March 02, New Delhi — Business leaders from India and Canada expressed strong support for expanding bilateral trade and technology cooperation at the India-Canada CEOs Forum, which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

The leaders engaged industry leaders to accelerate efforts to boost bilateral trade to $50 billion, advance negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), and deepen collaboration in clean energy, artificial intelligence, critical minerals, and infrastructure.

Richa Hukumchand, Founder and CEO of Pramatra Space, said that this partnership heralds a new era amidst global trade uncertainties, adding that stronger ties with countries such as Canada can help build a sustainable and innovation-driven economy.

Indra Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director of Avanti Feeds Limited, said that technological cooperation between the two countries would significantly benefit the food processing sector.

Goldy Hyder, CEO and President of the Business Council of Canada, emphasized the importance of governance in building policy and trade-enabling infrastructure.

Anuj Kapuria, Founder and CEO of Novus Hi-Tech, described India and Canada as natural partners in trade and innovation, noting that both Prime Ministers demonstrated a strong commitment to fast-tracking the partnership.

Rajat Verma, CEO of the India-Canada CEOs Forum, expressed optimism about the future of bilateral trade, calling it the beginning of "India-Canada Partnership 2.0."

Avinash Chandra Pal, Co-Founder and CEO of DTown Robotics Private Limited, highlighted the growing collaboration in the AI ecosystem and said that both sides are looking forward to strengthening ties further.

Preeti Bajaj, CEO and Managing Director of Luminous Power Technologies, identified clean energy technologies, particularly battery energy storage systems, as a key area of cooperation, outlining opportunities in supply chains, innovation, and new financial models.

Joby John, Founder and CEO of Techversant Infotech, said that improving bilateral relations and strong governmental support could pave the way for closer cooperation in IT, AI, and quantum technologies.
