India Evacuates Nationals, Ensures Supply Amid Regional Concerns.webp

April 02, New Delhi: During an inter-ministerial briefing on Thursday regarding the West Asia crisis, officials stated that the government is taking coordinated measures to ensure energy security, trade stability, and the safety of Indian nationals abroad.

Sanjay Mangal, Member (CBIC), announced full customs duty exemption on select critical petrochemical products until June 30, 2026, to stabilize supply and reduce cost pressure on domestic industries.

Luv Aggarwal, (Chief of Directorate General of Foreign Trade), said a dedicated West Asia crisis desk has been set up, providing a toll-free helpline and email support to assist exporters and address sector-specific challenges in coordination with ministries.

Sujata Sharma, (joint Sec, PETROLEUM MINISTRY), assured that refineries are operating at maximum capacity, fuel prices remain stable, and there is no shortage of LPG, petrol, diesel, or natural gas across India.

Mukesh Mangal, (Additional Secretary, SHIPPING MINISTRY), reported that 18 Indian vessels and hundreds of Indian seafarers remain in the Persian Gulf region, with authorities monitoring the situation via a 24x7 control room.

Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, Randhir Jaiswal, added that over 1,200 Indians, including 845 students, have been evacuated from Iran through Armenia and Azerbaijan, with ongoing efforts to relocate others to safer areas.
