New Delhi, March 10 External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, on Tuesday, amid growing concerns over the fallout of the West Asia crisis, particularly on energy supplies.
This was the third time Jaishankar had spoken to Araghchi since the US and Israel launched joint military strikes against Iran.
"I had a detailed conversation this evening with the Foreign Minister of Iran, @araghchi, regarding the latest developments in the ongoing conflict. We agreed to stay in contact," Jaishankar said on social media.
The phone conversation between the two foreign ministers came amid increasing global concerns over disruptions in oil supplies, given the crisis in West Asia.
Global oil and gas prices have surged after Iran virtually blocked the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow shipping lane between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, which handles approximately 20 per cent of global oil and LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas).
Jaishankar conveyed India's deep concern to Araghchi regarding the developments in Iran and the region.
