March 18, New Delhi — In a significant step towards accelerating industrial growth, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the Bharat Industrial Development Scheme (BHAVYA), allocating ₹33,660 crore to develop 100 plug-and-play industrial parks across the country.
The scheme will support the development of 100 industrial parks in partnership with state governments and private players.
These parks, ranging from 100 to 1,000 acres, will offer ready infrastructure and pre-approved land, enabling a faster transition from planning to production.
Announcing the decision, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, "The Bharat Industrial Development Scheme is an investment-ready plug-and-play industrial park scheme. Under this initiative, 100 industrial parks will be developed near 100 cities where an industrial ecosystem either already exists or has the potential to be developed."
He added, "The Government of India will provide financial support of ₹1 crore per acre, and a minimum land requirement of 100 acres will be necessary to be eligible for the scheme. However, for the North Eastern and hilly regions, the minimum requirement has been reduced to 25 acres."
This is a 6-year program, which will be implemented in collaboration with state governments and public sector undertakings."
Building on the success of Industrial Smart Cities developed under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP) framework, BHAVYA will be implemented in partnership with states and the private sector.
BHAVYA is expected to drive large-scale job creation, generating significant direct and indirect employment across manufacturing, logistics, and services, while catalysing substantial investments.
The scheme will extend to all States and Union Territories, creating lakhs of employment opportunities across the country and accelerating industrial growth nationwide.
By fostering cluster-based development and enabling the co-location of industries, suppliers, and service providers, BHAVYA will strengthen domestic supply chains, promote regional industrialization, and create new opportunities for millions of people.
The approval of BHAVYA represents a transformational step in India’s journey towards Atmanirbhar Bharat, reinforcing the country’s manufacturing capabilities, boosting exports, and laying the foundation for a resilient, inclusive, and globally competitive economy.
