Speaking to reporters here, Sarma said that the state government is monitoring the situation arising across the country in the wake of the war in West Asia.
"I am looking into it, and there is no shortage of domestic LPG. India has made arrangements to import gas from 40 countries," he said.
Sarma further said that Russia has started sending oil and gas to India.
"So, I don't think there will be any shortage of LPG. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when there were widespread concerns about oxygen availability, the Prime Minister personally coordinated efforts to ensure supply across the country.
"Similarly, if any challenge arises in LPG supply, the government will handle the situation effectively," the CM said.
Earlier in the day, PSU firm Indian Oil Corp, which supplies LPG cylinders to almost 85 per cent of the entire Northeast market, said it has enough stock to provide the cooking fuel in the region during the coming period in the context of the war in West Asia.
