
Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, J P Nadda, stated today that the green ammonia agreements represent a significant step towards building a self-reliant nation and advancing the country's transition to clean energy. He made this statement while addressing the signing of green ammonia agreements for the fertilizer sector under the National Green Hydrogen Mission in New Delhi.
Mr. Nadda explained that this initiative signifies the operationalization of a green ammonia ecosystem and will play a key role in accelerating the shift towards sustainable energy. He added that this move will reduce import dependence in the fertilizer sector, strengthening domestic capabilities.
Speaking at the event, Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, said that energy security has become national security in the present global context. Mr. Joshi said that these agreements will strengthen India's energy future, helping to reduce dependence on imported grey ammonia. He added that the initiative is expected to save nearly $2.5 billion in foreign exchange over the next decade. Highlighting India's achievements, Mr. Joshi said that the country has demonstrated that economic growth and sustainability can go hand in hand.
