March 17, New Delhi: India's Ambassador to the United Nations, Parvathaneni Harish, has highlighted what he called the "brutal repression" of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Pakistan and the air-bombing campaigns during the holy month of Ramadan.
Delivering India's statement at the International Day to Combat Islamophobia in the United Nations General Assembly, the ambassador said that India's "western neighbour" has "systematically attempted to weaponise" multilateral platforms against India and has "repeatedly made false and baseless allegations."
He accused Pakistan of spreading false claims of Islamophobia and targeting India through the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
The ambassador also stated that India reaffirms its commitment to a world free from religious hatred and violence in all its forms. He urged the UN to channel its time and limited resources towards building inclusive societies grounded in equality, dignity, and the rule of law for every individual of every faith.
