New Delhi, March 8 President Droupadi Murmu congratulated the Indian cricket team on Sunday for winning the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, stating that every player, the entire management, and the support staff deserve the highest praise for this collective achievement.
India has the unique distinction of being the only country to win the T20 World Cup three times. She also said that it is the only team to have won the cup twice in a row.
"This brings immense joy and pride to our cricket-loving people. It also reflects the rich talent pool we have among our youth in various fields," Murmu said.
India put up a spectacular batting performance, defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final clash and defending the T20 World Cup title after setting a record score in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
"Heartfelt congratulations to Team India, which emphatically won the T20 World Cup, achieving several milestones in the process," the President said.
"Every player, the entire management, and the support staff deserve the highest praise for this collective triumph. I wish our cricket team continued success in the future," she added.
