March 16, New Delhi — Indian athletes achieved a historic milestone in winter sports by securing three top-10 finishes on the opening day of the 2026 ISMF Asian Ski Mountaineering Championships.
In the men's category, Siddharth Gadekar achieved an outstanding 7th-place finish, while Shardul Thapliyal finished 8th.
In the women's category, Kaamya Karthikeyan matched the men's success with a brilliant 7th-place finish as well.
This result represents the best collective finish ever recorded by Indian athletes at a continental-level ski mountaineering event.
