
March 12, New Delhi – Indian athletes delivered outstanding performances on the opening day of the World Para Athletics Grand Prix, claiming top positions across various track and field events.
In the men’s high jump T42 event, Shailesh Kumar won gold, Ramsingbhai Gov Padhiyar secured silver, and Lokesh Mantra took bronze. In the men’s discus throw, Monu won gold, Praveen Sharma secured silver, and Sanjay Reddy Neelam took bronze.
In the women’s 1500m T11/T12 event, Soumya won the gold medal, Rakshita Raju finished second, and Radha Venkatesh secured bronze. India also dominated the men’s 1500m T11 event, with Ankur Dhama winning gold, Keshavamurthy finishing second, and Ravikumar Bankalagi claiming bronze.
India dominated the men’s 1500m T37/T46 race, with Raman Sharma winning gold. Sharwan secured silver, and Rakesh Bharia finished third to claim bronze. In the women’s shot put F56 event, Poonam claimed the gold medal. Rakesh Bhatt won gold in the men’s 100m T36/T37/T38 event.
India also dominated the men’s high jump T44 competition. Praveen Kumar clinched gold, followed by Unni Renu, who claimed silver. In the men’s 1500m T53/T54 event, Ramesh Shanmugam won gold, while Anil Kumar won silver.
In the women’s 100m, Kiran Shriram Metkar won the gold medal, while Kalaiselvi Elango finished second.
