
The first phase of the 2027 Census will begin tomorrow. The 2027 Census will be the largest census in the world. For the first time, the census will be conducted digitally, and the option of self-enumeration will also be available. Self-enumeration will begin from tomorrow until April 15th, and house listing and housing census will be conducted for a month from April 16th to May 15th in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the NDMC area, and the Delhi Cantonment Board, Goa, Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Mizoram, Odisha, and Sikkim. Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, and Haryana will begin the house listing census from May 1st to May 30th, with a self-enumeration period from April 16th to April 30th. The self-enumeration period for areas under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Rajasthan, and Jharkhand is from May 1st to May 15th. Self-enumeration is a secure, web-based facility through which respondents can enter their information online in 16 languages before the door-to-door survey. Enumerators will collect and submit data directly through the Mobile App, using their smartphones. The government has made all necessary provisions to ensure data security. More than three million enumerators, supervisors, and other officials will be involved in the 2027 Census across the country. The second phase of the census, which is population enumeration, will be conducted in February of next year. The Centre has approved an outlay of over 11,718 crore rupees for the 2027 Census.
