New Delhi, February 26 Consumer electronics brand Acerpure, a part of Taiwan's Acer Group, is looking to leverage its success in India to expand into other emerging markets like the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia as it seeks to grow globally, a senior company official said on Thursday.
Acerpure, which officially entered the Indian air conditioning market after conducting test marketing last year, will be looking for export opportunities from the country in the future, Leonard CC Yang, Regional Sales Manager, Consumer Business, Pan Asia Pacific, of Acerpure Inc, told
"We are taking advantage of every opportunity (in India). Currently, all of the Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) or factories here are focused on meeting domestic demand first, but someday, I believe they will have the ambition and capacity to export all of their products. This is also part of our mission," he said when asked about exports from India.
Acerpure, which is present in categories like TVs, air purifiers, and fans, in addition to air conditioners, in India, engages third-party manufacturers for its products.
Yang said that the company is looking for a bigger expansion, not only in India but also in Taiwan, where it has also introduced its air conditioners.
"We want to double our sales in India this year," he added.
The company has set a target of selling 100,000 units of air conditioners in India this year, Sudhir Goel, Chief Business Officer of Acer India, said.
Reiterating the company's commitment to India, Yang said, "We want to double, even triple, our investment in India to ensure that many of our products will be launched for the Indian market," he added.
Yang further said, "Then, the next step, we will replicate our success and winning strategies in India in other emerging markets, such as the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia, in the next step." When asked about the planned investment, he declined to share the specific details.
"When we talk about investment, the ultimate goal is to achieve a return on investment. The ultimate goal that Acerpure wants to achieve is the welfare and satisfaction of the Indian people while using Acerpure products," he said.
Yang further said that the investment is not just about the money the company is putting in. It's about the technology base they have and bringing new features to their future products "to ensure that everyone who uses Acerpure feels like 'this is really something made for us in India.'"
"That's why we emphasize the products that are made in India," Yang noted.
Acerpure launched seven new split inverter air conditioners on Thursday, with prices starting at Rs 29,990.
Goel said that the company is looking to tap into Tier II and Tier III cities in India with the new products, as the potential is higher with lower penetration of air conditioners.
