A delegation from Germany visited the NITI Aayog in New Delhi today to learn about the Government's flagship initiatives.
The initiatives include the Aspirational District Programme and the Aspirational Blocks Programme, which aim to accelerate development and improve service delivery at the district and block levels. In a statement, NITI Aayog said that the interaction was chaired by Additional Secretary and Mission Director of the programmes, Rohit Kumar, who briefed the visiting team on the design, implementation framework, and impact of the initiatives.
He explained that the programmes are based on the principles of Convergence, Collaboration, and Competition, along with Funds, Functions, and Functionaries, enabling coordinated action between the Centre, States, and local administrations. The initiatives focus on improving key indicators in sectors such as health, education, agriculture, financial inclusion, and basic infrastructure through targeted interventions and continuous monitoring.
The German delegation, led by Stefan Traeger, appreciated the progress achieved under the programmes and the data-driven governance model adopted for monitoring development outcomes.
