March 21, New Delhi – The Ministry of Education is organizing the Bharat Innovates Deep-Tech Pre-Summit at the IIT Bombay Research Park on March 21–22, 2026, to promote India as a global hub for deep-tech innovation. Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, will address the summit during a special session.

Around 137 deep-tech startups selected from over 3,000 applications across India will showcase their innovations at the two-day national event.

The Bharat Innovates initiative, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the India-France Year of Innovation, is a flagship programme of the Ministry of Education under the guidance of the Principal Scientific Adviser. It aims to accelerate Indian deep-tech by connecting startups, labs, and research parks with global investors, corporations, universities, and governments.

The Pre-Summit will feature innovations in 13 technology domains, including Advanced Computing, Healthcare & MedTech, Space & Defence, Energy & Sustainability, Semiconductors, Biotechnology, Smart Cities & Mobility, Blue Economy, Next-Gen Communications, Agri & Food Tech, Advanced Materials, Manufacturing & Industry 4.0, and Disaster Management. These technologies emerge from India’s premier institutions such as IITs, IISc, and leading research ecosystems.

The event will bring together over 200 startup founders, 70 investors and VCs, 50 industry leaders, and senior government stakeholders, creating a platform for pitch sessions, investor engagement, and industry partnerships. The Pre-Summit will serve as a national selection and launchpad for India’s global innovation delegation, helping startups advance from Technology Readiness Levels (TRL 3–9) to global scale.

Aligned with NEP 2020, the Bharat Innovates Deep-Tech Pre-Summit underscores India’s commitment to innovation-led national development, demonstrating that universities are now actively shaping technologies for a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
