Amid the outbreak of hostilities in West Asia and the evolving global energy situation, the government has ensured both the availability and affordability of energy for its population by diversifying its sources. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas stated that India is the third largest importer, fourth largest refiner, and fifth largest exporter of petroleum products globally, and has sufficient energy reserves to deal with the ongoing situation. Highlighting the country's preparedness, the Ministry said that India has ample crude oil and inventories of key petroleum products, including petrol, diesel, and ATF, to deal with short-term disruptions. Following the disruption in the Western Asian region, the Ministry has also established a 24×7 Control Room to continuously monitor the supply and stock position of petroleum products across the country and protect the interests of Indian consumers.
In this regard, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, briefed the media on the country's preparedness in the current circumstances.
