April 1, New Delhi: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas clarified that the prices of regular petrol and diesel—the fuels that India relies on—remain unchanged at ₹94.77/litre and ₹87.67/litre in Delhi.
With global petroleum prices up by as much as 100% in the last month, Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) oil marketing companies are incurring losses of ₹24.40/litre on petrol and ₹104.99/litre on diesel at the RSP level as of April 1, 2026. These decisions align with the commitment of Hon'ble Prime Minister @narendramodi to protect Indian citizens from soaring international prices.
The recent ₹2/litre revision only applies to premium petrol variants—XP95, Power95, Speed—high-performance products whose prices are revised every two weeks, and whose sales represent 2–5% of the total volume. These are purchased by motorists at a premium, by choice.
Every petrol pump in India continues to offer regular petrol and diesel at unchanged prices, even as prices have risen by 30–50% in countries around the world.
