Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has expressed his gratitude to India for its support in providing fuel to the country during the West Asia crisis, following the arrival of a major shipment of petroleum in Colombo. In a social media post, President Dissanayake stated that he had recently spoken with Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the fuel shortages being experienced in Sri Lanka due to the ongoing conflict.
He said he was grateful for India's swift assistance after a shipment of 38,000 metric tonnes of petroleum, including 20,000 metric tonnes of diesel and 18,000 metric tonnes of petrol, arrived in Colombo on Saturday. The shipment was arranged by Lanka IOC after earlier contracted supplies from West Asia and Singapore were disrupted due to unforeseen circumstances and logistical constraints. The latest delivery is expected to help maintain fuel supply stability in Sri Lanka amid the ongoing disruptions.
