
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar emphasized the importance of freedom of navigation for global economic security during the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in France. In a social media post, Dr. Jaishankar stated that he appreciated the ongoing efforts to expand cooperation along its value chain regarding critical minerals and discussed the threat of narco-terrorism. He noted that the ministers discussed cross-cutting threats and sovereignty during the meeting.
Earlier, the External Affairs Minister met with United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, and engaged in productive discussions on the sidelines of the meeting. During his meeting with his Saudi Arabian counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan, Dr. Jaishankar appreciated Mr. Farhan's assessments on West Asia and also discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The External Affairs Minister also met with Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, and German Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul.
