
March 01, New Delhi – Amid the tense situation in West Asia, India's External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, spoke with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and the UAE to discuss ongoing developments in the region.
Dr. Jaishankar also addressed the safety and welfare of the Indian community in these countries.
He shared updates on his discussions, stating: "Just spoke to Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the FM of Saudi Arabia. We exchanged views on the ongoing situation in the Gulf. We emphasized India's interest in regional peace and stability, as well as the welfare of the Indian community."
He added, "Spoke with Kuwait FM Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. He briefed me on the latest situation in Kuwait. We highlighted India's concern about the escalation. I value his reassurance regarding the safety of the Indian community."
Regarding Bahrain, he said, "I exchanged views with FM Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani of Bahrain on the recent developments in the region. The escalating situation is a matter of concern. I was assured that his government would take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of the Indian community."
Regarding Qatar, he noted, "I called Prime Minister & FM Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani of Qatar this evening. I was briefed on the situation in Qatar. I value his assurance regarding the well-being of the Indian community."
Regarding the UAE, he added, "I discussed the evolving situation in the Gulf with UAE Deputy Prime Minister & FM Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan this evening. India is concerned about the escalating situation. I appreciate his commitment to the welfare of the Indian community."
