Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla stated that development and the environment should not be viewed as opposing forces, but rather as complementary. He added that water conservation is essential for securing the future of humanity, and all stakeholders, including public representatives, should work collaboratively in this direction.
Mr. Birla made this statement while addressing the Water Transversality Global Awards and Conclave 2026 in New Delhi yesterday. The Lok Sabha Speaker stressed the importance of adopting the "Reduce, Reuse, Recharge, and Recycle" mantra for water conservation.
Referring to initiatives such as "Catch the Rain" and the Jal Jeevan Mission, Mr. Birla highlighted the critical role of public participation in ensuring the success of such campaigns. He further stated that renewable energy and green initiatives are strengthening India's commitment to climate change.
