
India's seafood exports have shown strong and consistent growth, expanding at an average annual rate of seven percent over the past eleven years. The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying stated that marine product exports have more than doubled during this period, increasing from over 30,000 crore rupees in 2013-14 to over 62,000 crore rupees in 2024-25. The Ministry added that India's seafood exports encompass a wide and diverse range of products, with over 350 varieties shipped to nearly 130 global markets. It further stated that India's fisheries sector has emerged as a major contributor to food security, employment, export earnings, and sustainable livelihoods.
