India's Stand on Investment Facilitation at WTO Talks.webp

March 29, New Delhi: On the second day of the 14th World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference currently taking place in Cameroon, Commerce and Industries Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized India's firm stance on key trade issues.

He highlighted India's willingness to stand alone on the contentious Investment Facilitation for Development Agreement and did not agree to its inclusion in the WTO framework as Annex 4 Agreement. As part of the WTO reform discussions, members are deliberating on safeguards and legal protections for plurilateral agreements before integrating any specific outcome.

Regarding the broader systemic issue, India expressed openness to good-faith, comprehensive discussions, and constructive engagement under the WTO Reform Agenda.
